I am a bit late writing this blog post.. things have been crazy busy in the home front. We have a teething baby and a very tired mummy for the last week and with Ramadan and end of the school year approaching we have had a lot of birthday parties to attend, a lot of school performances by the kids to watch and scrambling to confirm venues and planners for Baby J’s 1st birthday which is in mid June… BUSY I know!!!
Anyway, Kid 1 for the last 7 months has been wanting to have his party at Bounce which is in Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi.
Went in March to check out the birthday packages they have and decide how/what to do.
They have 2 kinds of party packages;(inclusive of sun-blast juices, water, popcorn)
- 60 minutes access to free-jumping mayhem and afterwards your very own party room for 30minutes.
- A dedicated party host to guide you through the action, including dodgeball, slam dunk, free-jumping and the Big Bag.
- Reserved area for parents to kick back and relax.
- Official BOUNCE grip socks for everyone.
- Freedom Package is 150 AED per child which includes a slice of pizza, chicken tenders, oven baked chips
- Bounce Package is 130 AED per child which includes chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, oven baked chips
Booking was fairly easy once they understood my request. We choose the Freedom Package and I added an additional hour (500 AED additional hour per room) before and after for the party room. Partly because the room has zero festive decorations, just long tables, chairs and basic white plates. And if any one knows me that just wouldn’t do!! So I needed that hour when the kids were off bouncing to get the room setup.
And additional charge of 30 AED when you bring in your own cake.
They even called me a couple of days before the party to reconfirm the booking and to complete the full payment. At the time of booking we ordered from the Bounce menu for the adults:
- the sandwich platter, fruit platter and shawarma platter (AED 100 each platter, serves about 5-10 people)
Kid 1 wanted a dinosaur theme for this 6th birthday so got onto my favourite site Etsy for everything DIY and birthdays and choose the right invitation.
For the birthday cake, I showed Kid 1 a couple of options from Pinterest and he found ‘the’ dinosaur jurassic cake! My usual super baker was unavailable due to family reasons so I was panicked looking for another. Luckily I was introduced to Charmaine Pharaoh, she was available and kind enough to take over my entire birthday order which included a 2 tier cake, 2 dozen cupcakes for school and 3 dozen dinosaur cookies. She did a fantastic job!!! They were moist, delicious and yummy (we had many kids come back for seconds and thirds)
Bounce offers party bags at AED 15 for a standard bag and AED 40 for a premium bag. We decided to do our own based on the party theme. Most of the favours I ordered through Amazon and Souq.com (including the fidget spinner, the latest kiddy craze) the rest of the items such as decorations, balloons, party bags, candles came from The Party Centre, Al Raha Mall.
The final headcount the night before the party was at a confirmed 28 kids (WOW!!!) its was a mix of school mates and cousins… We arrived at 3:30pm (we had a few parents and kids already waiting) and made our way down stairs towards the holding area for briefing. We were appointed 2 amazing, energetic bounce hosts who looked after the kids the entire time. The games were all age appropriate from slam dunks, dodge ball to other super fun engaging activities. By the time the hour was up we had sweaty, thirsty, hungry like munchsters back. From that moment on everything was a complete whirlwind… the kids and adult food had arrived 5 mins prior and was all set-up. We sang the birthday song while Kid 1 cut his cake by himself!
Later on after all his friends left, we took the opportunity to take some memorable family photos. Big shout out to our photographer Musthafa from Wise Monkeys … the pictures are amazing!
It is a wonderful venue to celebrate a birthday party… hassle free, fun and most importantly way awesome!
